Elijah Holloman, age 21, and Dominique Adrian Reid, age 26, both of Bridgeport, face several felonies following a chase on Thursday, Oct. 3, Fairfield Police said.
Their troubles began around 9:30 a.m. when they crashed a stolen Mazda into a Wilton Police car, authorities said. They sped away from the scene on the Merritt Parkway, sparking a high-speed chase.
Bridgeport Police recognized the Mazda as it had been stolen at gunpoint on Thursday, Sept. 26, officials said.
About 10 minutes after the crash, Fairfield Police spotted the Mazda near Exit 46 on the parkway, but when they tried to pull it over, the driver floored it, authorities said, and officers gave chase.
Police tried multiple methods to disable the car, but those failed.
The Mazda took Exit 51 but whipped around and got back on the Merrit Parkway driving north in the southbound lanes. Soon after, the car collided head-on with an oncoming vehicle with five people inside, Fairfield Police said.
Ambulances were quick to the scene, and luckily no one was seriously injured in the violent crash, police said.
The two men inside the stolen car jumped out and ran away, authorities said.
Elijah Holloman didn't make it far. A K9 unit quickly ran him down, authorities said, but Dominique Adrian Reid was able to elude for two hours the net police set to ensnare him.
But as it turns out, they didn't need to do any of that because Reid came to them.
Officers found Reid in the Fairfield Police Department parking lot, authorities said. He was there to bond out his alleged partner in crime, Holloman.
Holloman was charged with motor vehicle theft and interfering with an officer, police said.
Reid is charged with:
- Theft of a motor vehicle
- Interfering with an officer
- Risk of injury (two counts)
- Engaging in a police pursuit
- Reckless driving
- Driving the wrong way on a one-way street
A judge ordered them both held on a $100,000 bond, authorities said.
